I taped a tire plug a.k.a. bacon strip and tool to the handlebars for quick repair. I never needed it.

Easy 1x gearing, maximum mud clearance.
If I needed an easier gear, I just walked.
Rear Tire after 2800 miles. You can see the under layer of rubber through the tread.
The front tire fared slightly better, no flats on either, only added air in Cuba because of all the road sections near the end.
